Sustainable ways out of vendor lock-in and technological dependencies
Where is your organisation’s digital sovereignty at risk in relation to the platforms, technologies and tools it uses, for example due to dependence on – for whatever reason – potentially problematic providers (‘vendor lock-in’)? How might this risk have specific negative effects? How can the software bill of materials (SBOM) for the software you develop be effectively and cost-efficiently freed from problematic external dependencies? When and to what extent is the use of open-source software and open standards reasonable, but where might it also be risky? On a practical level, I will also present you and your teams with specific alternatives to established commercial standard software across all sectors, implemented as free software using open standards, without concealing any limitations or problems they may have.
