I’ll demonstrate the simplest possible approaches to build automation, deployment and update management for your software (software configuration management, SCM). In all of this, appropriateness is always key; a custom-written script is often more cost-effective and better suited to your needs than a universal off-the-shelf tool that requires numerous prerequisites – and, on top of that, is often easier to adapt to changing requirements.
